Map of Salisbury, England. The Guildhall - Market Place The present Guildhall stands on a site of a building known as the Bishop's Guildhall. It was built between 1787-1795. and altered in 1825 and 1889, and refurbished in 1990/1. It is of grey brick with dressings in a wild rocky rustication. As it is today, it has a facade with a one-storey portico of six tall Tuscan columns. Since 1927 it has no longer been the home of local government, but it's other role as law courts, continues.
